Building Ethical Practices – A Q+A with Daniella Siebert of Fox & Bloom

Nothing is more exciting to us than connecting with people who live out our motto #liveconsciously in real life. Whether they’re ethical influencers, nutritionists, work from home moms, or something else entirely, we love meeting, interviewing, and introducing you to ways people live consciously in their real, day to day life.

Daniella is the founder of Fox & Bloom, a lifestyle blog inspiring women to believe in their inherent worth, which sometimes takes the form of building a closet of ethical, beautiful pieces. Daniella is sweet, inviting, and all about authenticity. We are so excited to introduce her to you today.

You weave style and intentional living so seamlessly. Did you have a “turning point” when you connected ethics and fashion, or have you always operated from that viewpoint?

Thank you! I wish I had always made that connection! I had a major turning point about a year ago when I saw the documentary The True Cost, which looks at the dark side of the fashion industry as well as the people who are trying to turn it around. I knew at that moment that I had to make a shift in how I talk about style. I kept saying, “I can’t un-know what I know. So how do I start talking about it?”

At Fox & Bloom, my goal is to create space for women to feel confident in their beauty and precious in their inherent worth. So it immediately made sense to me to pivot from focusing mainly on how clothes can make us feel to also include the stories behind fair fashion. Those stories can connect us to the people who make our clothes and give us a feeling of intentionality and community, which I think is so valuable.

What other ways do you seek to “live consciously,” other than what’s in your closet?

I try to stay accountable by questioning my goals and actions. Not in a self-critical way but in a self-aware way. Two questions that I try to consistently ask myself are: Does this bring me joy? And, is this decision getting me closer to or further away from my goals?

That can apply to things (Is this impulse buy going to bring me joy? Probably not.) as well as actions (Is watching five hours of Netflix getting me closer to my goals? Definitely not.).

When you’re not working on your blog, what takes up most of your time?

If I’m not working on my blog, I’m usually spending time with my husband, at the gym or reading. I’ve also recently started hand-lettering, which has been a much-needed creative outlet. It’s wildly refreshing to do something creative that doesn’t involve staring at a screen!

Coffee, tea, or both?

Who are a few of your style muses?

My sweet friend Sara from @iindiefoxx is someone I look to a lot—she’s always pushing her style and putting out amazing content. I also adore Courtney from @prettylittlefawn and Sammi from @sammijefcoate.

Where do you see your blog a year from now?

I recently released an ebook called How to Build a Closet You Love. The heart behind it is that by simplifying our closets down to only what makes us feel amazing, we create space in our lives for what matters most—our careers, side hustles, families, changing the world. Whatever matters to you, getting dressed every morning should help you get one step closer to that.

A year from now, I see Fox & Bloom continuing to champion this message in new ways, like courses, workshops and coaching. I want to be a resource for women who long to make space for what matters most and help them feel worthy of achieving that.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

Something I don’t talk about on Fox & Bloom is my 15-ish years of showing horses! I competitively showed quarter horses from middle school through college and even homeschooled for a while so I could be on the road as much as I needed to. I think having that level of commitment to something so early in life really shaped who I am today (and gave me super strong legs).
